In response to a facebook thread...

...In it, my friend Jason was talking about how sad it was that J.D. Salinger's passing yesterday was eclipsed by the news of Steve Job's most recent technological terror...

my response (paraphrased) to him...

"Hear here, my friend...

But in a way, Jason, it's kind of fitting... I don't think Mr. Salinger would expect.. or even have liked being a "headline," but rather having his name mentioned in a bit story in the arts section...

.... or on the lips of coffeehouse wall flowers......
....whispered through the cigarette smoke of Bauhaus misfits, ...
... in the book bags high-school mutants...
... or in the far-out "raps" of finger-snapping Bohemians...
... I think he... or at least Holden... wouldn't have it any other way..."
God rest you, Mr. Salinger.  Thank you so much for sharing with us...
